According to the latest studies conducted, nuts are extremely good for your health. A handful of nuts are believed to cut down the risk of coronary heart disease by 30% and reduce the risk of cancer by 15%. The scientists have further highlighted that all types of tree nuts provide this type of benefit. Cashew, Almond, Walnut and Pistachio are some of the versions, which pack a punch for people consuming it.
While peanuts might be missing from the list of the ones “good to the heart”, these are believed to be beneficial when it comes to preventing strokes.
All nuts are high in magnesium and polyunsaturated fats, which are the key players in cutting down the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Consuming nuts on a daily basis can further lower the risk of bad cholesterol. Since nuts, especially pecan and walnut contain high antioxidants, these are excellent in fighting against free radicals that cause cancer.
However, researchers have constantly highlighted that the nuts should be consumed in limited amounts only for high protein contents can contribute to obesity. Approximately 20 grams of nuts daily is considered enough to reduce the risk of life-threatening diseases. It was also noted that eating more than a handful did no extra benefits.
Further studies are being conducted to bring forth conclusive results.
